![]() This didn't need to be done pre-44.10 but I think its a key element of game-play now in post 44.11 if you want to keep overall fort stress in check. My big takeaway from this that realistically with new forts we will probably have to manually assign mentally tough dwarfs to corpse duty and keep most others away from that experience. So almost every dwarf saw almost every body at least once while it was carried to the atom smasher, or when they dropped off their own refuse at the atom smasher. That means that virtually every dwarf helped clean up. In practical terms I was half-assing the hauling with labormanger enabled. the root issue lies with the fact that I did not explicitly micro the clean-up process. Which makes it difficult to know how to mitigate stress if positive thoughts don't seem to help.ĮDIT 2: I think what the comments are showing is that although I am providing a pretty decent fort with amenities, and cleaning up bodies fast. What I find interesting is that the actual thoughts and memories of specific dwarfs, although trending towards greater positivity over recent months, doesn't stop their stress from spiraling upward. so it has only gotten worse for most dwarfs. Using the total happiness numbers in the bottom right of the screen, I should add that the fort went from 0/0/0/0/2/18/72 to 0/0/0/2/4/53/21 in the year 255. What I do want to keep checking is if total fort stress can be reduced. ![]() That doesn't seem balanced game-play wise.ĮDIT: I tracked a few other names a bit more carefully and do see that some of the dwarfs are having their stress decrease. But if stress is just a relentless thermometer that goes up year after year no matter what then every fort has a built in stress-death no matter what mitigating factors you perform. I am glad stress is back, and love the idea of stress spikes after raids, watching people die, and hauling bodies of your loved ones off the field. (over 75 of 100 dwarfs are unhealthily stressed after 3 months of calm)Įven when their thoughts and memories are virtually all positive over that period and they have temples, museums, statue gardens, taverns, lavish meals, loving relationships, decent quarters, etc. The vast majority of the fort is "stressed" and I can't get any of the seriously haggard dwarfs to feel better. Bottom line, even with three months of calm and clean surroundings, virtually all most dwarfs gained about 2000 stress. I purposefully prioritized body clean-up and atom smashing anything offensive after each small raid. I did some screenshots of my stress observations, following a few dwarfs over a three month period of peace after a year with a couple small raids and minimal losses. It seems like stress just keeps going up, even during times of peace and quiet and cleanliness when virtually all amenities are present. (44.12) Just observing the rebalanced stress in my fort Gorgepatch.
